Wow! Almost a month has already gone by, and what a busy month it has been here at Adrift Again.
For this entry, please meet my very best furry friend ever, Cortez! He is my shadow, my foot warmer, my swimming partner, and just the best darn dog I could ever hope for! But of course, don't we all say that whenever we are so fortunate to have in our care our best friend? I want you to know that he is as fuzzy and as full of empathy as he looks, unless of course I try to groom him myself, then he is just plain caring!
I've finished four new characters since my last blog, three for the Vintage Vinyl collection; "S. S. Desperado", "The S. S. Stairway", "Oh . . . Honey, Honey", and one for our "Skelton Crew Sports" that I've named "The S. S. Sand Trap". Their colors and vibe are great additions to the Adrift Again family and I know that when they're ready for production you'll just fall in love with them.
We've been building our back-end support in anticipation of our social media debut and I'm getting real excited about it. TicTok, Instagram, and our Facebook page will be available for all to connect with and everyday we are getting closer and closer to being finished with this huge undertaking.
On the personal front, I've been a bit more adrift than usual. For those of you who don't know my current journey, I am in the middle of a life changing event of losing my husband of 44 years to dementia. I believe he may be coming to the end of his struggles and sometimes I can't believe there is a person on earth who is more adrift than us. The kindness and support of our family and friends I fear is more than I deserve and they lift me to heights that I didn't believe were possible during such a dark and stormy time. Truly we are blessed beyond belief to be surrounded by such riches that these kind hearts bestow upon us.
I have resolved to write a bit here and there about this personal journey as we believe dementia and end of life options should be talked about in the open. Discussions at government levels and at kitchen tables about dementia and end of life options across America and beyond should be plentiful, open, caring, and full of humanity and kindness, if you ask us.
Well, enough about that! Back on June 8th I was lucky enough to attend an evening concert with my friends to see the Eagles tribute band, One Of These Nights. The night was overflowing with magic that was wrapped in warm winds and the glow from hearts of friends that was mixed with good music. How could I not come home and let the joy & happiness of that evening spill out through my attempts at capturing the colors and feel of one of my favorite songs, "Desperado"? I just can't wait to introduce you all to one of my new Skelly's, "S. S. Desperado"!
Now it is time for me to go and help make dinner. Tonight, we are having peppercorn steak on the bbq, corn on the cob, salad with sunflower seeds, and perhaps some rice to round it out. My part in all of this is the sides so I better get started as it's already after six and this crew of mine is hungry after a day in the summer sun.
Thank you for stopping by and until next time, remember to be kinder than necessary to those around you and especially to yourself.
Take care,
dz
